The excitement in the shop mounts with the arrival of each new season because with it brings a new display (or two!). We like to challenge ourselves by setting a pretty small budget and working with every day items that we can transform into something extraordinary with little more than scissors, paper, a hot glue gun, and a whole lot of imagination.
For our windows, we wanted to do a take on "showers bring flowers" so we found some inexpensive umbrellas and got to work. We removed the tops and covered them in fisherman's netting and then began adding the flowers. Made from crepe paper (and lots of hot glue), we created a variety of blooms, ensuring that none of them looked "too perfect". I must also add that none of this would have been possible without the help of our newest and furriest team member, Winston (affectionately called Winnie by those dearest to him). We shot these photos the first week we got him and though he is so different now, there is one thing that remains the same: he is still full of mischief and wants to be in the middle of everything (something I hope never changes)!
Next was our Cottage that houses our storage area in the back. It's one of the most charming parts of the shop so we like to do it justice each season. We started out with a sturdy cardstock and butterfly punch and after punching out what felt like 10,000, we were certain we had enough. While doing the install we quickly realized we needed more to make an impact so we went to the back and grabbed any yellow or white tissue paper, crepe paper, and even regular copy paper and cut out butterflies free-hand. We clustered them together by using hot glue, staples and fishing line and let me just say--the photos are beautiful but in-store--it's just magic.
Love what you see? Stop in the shop for a closer look at our displays, new arrivals, and maybe (definitely) a glimpse of Winnie.
